RN or LPN with 5+ years of teaching experience required by the IDOH.
This is an introductory course to provide the training and clinical experience necessary for persons seeking entry-level jobs as nurse assistants. The course includes 45+ hours of classroom instruction and 75 hours of clinical experience, part of which will be on weekends. Schedules for clinicals are developed after class begins. The student will be required to provide his/her own uniform for the clinicals and submit a health statement and two step PPD test completed by a physician. Health statements will be distributed during registration. A basic math and literacy test will be administered at registration, prospective students must have a passing grade of 90% or higher. A minimum of a 75% average on all examinations and classroom assignments and a criminal history check is required prior to clinicals. Perfect attendance is expected. This course meets state requirements for registry with the Indiana State Department of Health. High school diploma or GED is encouraged but not required. Additional fees may be required for testing.

Most students can qualify for funding for this class through DWD WEI (Workplace Education Initiative) in partnership with Otterbein Senior Living.
