LPN or RN with CNA Teaching Certification
Blue River Career Programs Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) course will last approximately 8 weeks. The first 4 weeks of the course are dedicated to classroom instructions. The student will learn how to properly administer aid to a resident/patient along with the rules and regulations for giving care to residents/patients. Once the student completes the classroom instructions, they will move to hands-on training that will be held at one of the local nursing home facilities. This is conducted so students can use the skills that they learned in a real-life setting. The student will be required to complete the classroom instruction of 30+ hours along with 75 clinical hours of on-site training in order to be eligible for the final testing. Each student will be required to submit to a physical and a two-step PPD test which will be completed by a physician before class begins along with an Indiana State Police Limited Criminal History check before class begins. Perfect attendance is expected for both class and clinical. This is a fast-paced course and any absences or lates will not be tolerated. This course does meet state requirements for registry with the Indiana State Department of Health. A high school diploma or HSE is encouraged but not required.
