The Emergency Medical Technician-Paramedic (EMT-Paramedic) Apprenticeship Program is a U.S. Department of Labor Registered Apprenticeship designed to prepare participants for employment as paramedics. The program combines structured on-the-job training with related technical instruction in advanced patient assessment, airway management, cardiac care, trauma management, pharmacology, emergency medical procedures, communication, safety, and professional practice. The Registered Apprenticeship includes 2,000 hours of structured on-the-job training, along with the required related technical instruction (RTI). Graduates are prepared for employment as paramedics in ambulance services, hospitals, fire departments, public safety agencies, and other emergency medical service organizations.
Applicants must meet the eligibility requirements established by the Registered Apprenticeship Standards. The apprenticeship offers multiple entry pathways. Individuals who do not possess an EMT credential may complete the required education and training as part of the apprenticeship. Individuals who already possess a current EMT credential may be eligible to receive credit for prior learning in accordance with the Registered Apprenticeship Standards. All applicants must satisfy applicable employer and apprenticeship requirements prior to participation.
Applications are accepted on a rolling basis throughout the year, based on apprenticeship opportunities, employer availability, and participant eligibility. There is no fixed annual application deadline.
