Program Description:

Expanded Functions Dental Assisting program has 4 sessions, 6 hours in length. The sessions are hands on in real dental operatories utilizing typodonts. The students will practice placement of dental resins and amalgams along with complex lab cases. Dental Materials are broken down into practice and hands on instruction is provided.

51.0601 Dental Assisting/Assistant A program that prepares individuals to provide patient care, take dental radiographs (x-ray photographs), prepare patients and equipment for dental procedures, and discharge office administrative functions under the supervision of dentists and dental hygienists. Includes instruction in medical record-keeping, general office duties, reception and patient intake, scheduling, equipment maintenance and sterilization, basic radiography, pre- and post-operative patient care and instruction, chairside assisting, taking tooth and mouth impressions, and supervised practice.

High School Diploma or Equivalent

Prerequisites Description:

Students must taken a Dental Assisting program or have one year (verified ) on the job experience as Dental Assistant.
