Description

Program classroom instructors are currently licensed Registered Nurses (RNs) and certified Nurse Practitioners (NP-Cs) with relevant clinical experience. Clinical preceptors must hold a current healthcare license or nationally recognized credential as a Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA), Registered Nurse (RN), or certified Nurse Practitioner (NP-C). The Allied Health Education Program Manager has an M.Ed. Learning and Teaching. All instructors and preceptors possess the education, clinical knowledge, and practical experience necessary to teach and supervise medical assisting students in classroom and patient-care settings.

Trinity Free Clinic’s Medical Assisting Program prepares students for entry-level employment as Certified Clinical Medical Assistants through a distinctive combination of classroom instruction and hands-on clinical training provided concurrently at Trinity’s active healthcare clinic. Students apply new skills immediately while working alongside licensed healthcare professionals and serving uninsured and underserved patients. Instruction is provided by Registered Nurses and certified Nurse Practitioners, with clinical supervision from CCMA-, RN-, and NP-C–credentialed preceptors.

The program covers patient intake, vital signs, medical documentation, infection control, clinical procedures, laboratory testing, phlebotomy, EKG administration, medication administration, patient education, professionalism, and workplace readiness. Students take the National Healthcareer Association Certified Clinical Medical Assistant examination before completing the program, giving every participant the opportunity to enter the workforce with a nationally recognized credential. Tuition includes the resources needed for success, including classroom instruction, clinical rotations, textbooks, scrubs, technology, and the CCMA examination.
