A Medical Transcriptionist converts audio-recorded reports as well as oral and witten communication from healthcare providers—such as patient histories, discharge summaries, and operative notes—into accurate written text for electronic health records (EHRs). They are responsible for editing, proofreading, and ensuring medical reports comply with confidentiality regulations (HIPAA), requiring expertise in medical terminology, anatomy, and pharmacology. Medical transcriptionists skills are required for all allied health careers. The allied health profressional must be proficiency in medical terminology, anatomy, and diagnostic procedures.
