Minimum instructor credentials require include either a two-year degree from a recognized institution or national accrediting body in the major area they are assigned to teach, or at least two years practical experience in the major area they are assigned to teach in addition to professional licensure or industry-recognized certification in the field.
The Qualified Medication Aide (QMA) program prepares students for medication administration support roles within long-term care facilities, assisted living facilities, rehabilitation centers, and related healthcare environments. The program provides instruction in medication administration procedures, pharmacology fundamentals, infection control, documentation practices, resident safety, communication, healthcare professionalism, and Indiana medication aide standards. Students develop competencies necessary to safely assist with medication administration under appropriate supervision while supporting healthcare workforce needs throughout Indiana. Training includes instructor-led instruction, applied learning activities, competency evaluations, and clinical preparation aligned with healthcare industry expectations.
Applicants must be at least 18 years of age, possess a high school diploma, GED, or equivalent, and hold an active Indiana Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification in good standing where applicable under Indiana training requirements. Students must demonstrate basic reading, communication, and computer literacy skills necessary for participation in healthcare training and medication administration coursework.
Applications are accepted on a rolling basis. New cohorts begin on the 1st and 15th of each month. To be considered for a cohort, applicants should complete their submission at least 7 days prior to the start date. Accelerated options and employer-sponsored enrollment may follow separate deadlines.
