Program Title: Automotive Technician Service Career Preparation Program

Program Overview: The Automotive Technician Service Career Preparation Program is designed for high school juniors and seniors who are interested in pursuing a career in the automotive industry. The program offers a comprehensive curriculum that combines academic coursework, hands-on training, and real-world experience to prepare students for entry-level positions as automotive technicians.

Program Components:

1. Academic Coursework:
   • The program will offer a series of Ivy Tech credited courses in automotive technology, including engine repair, electrical systems, brake systems, and automotive diagnostics.
   • Students will also have the opportunity to earn Ivy Tech College credits towards an Associate Degree in Automotive Technology through dual enrollment courses.
2. High School Graduation Requirements:
   • Students will have the opportunity to complete their home high school graduation requirements while participating in the program.
3. Preparation for Apprenticeship Program:
   • The program will prepare students to enter a Registered Department of Labor (DOL) Apprenticeship Program in Automotive Technology upon high school graduation.
   • Students will receive guidance and support in applying for apprenticeship programs and understanding the requirements and benefits of apprenticeship training.
4. Partnership with Chariot Automotive Group:
   • The program has partnered with Chariot Automotive Group, a successful automotive company in North Central Indiana.
   • Students will have the opportunity for part-time and summer employment with one of Chariot Automotive Group's four dealerships, gaining valuable hands-on experience in a professional automotive setting.
5. Tuition Support and Continuing Education:
   • Tuition for the program will be paid for eligible students.
   • After high school graduation, students will have the opportunity to continue their education at Ivy Tech in Automotive Technology, with tuition support provided.
   • Students will also have the opportunity to participate in the DOL Apprenticeship Program, gaining paid on-the-job training while furthering their education.
